The Merton Eats Project!

What is Merton Eats

Merton Eats Project is a movement a community-led YouTube cooking programme celebrating the cultural diversity of the London Borough of Merton. Through food, we aim to bring residents together, encourage cross-cultural understanding, and promote healthier eating habits. The series will feature local families, friends, and community groups from different backgrounds cooking their traditional dishes — with a modern, healthy twist — while sharing the stories and cultural significance behind their meals.

The project will be filmed in community spaces such as Sherwood Park Hall and local kitchens, with professional guidance for filming, editing, and nutrition. Episodes will be shared online to reach a wide audience across Merton and beyond, encouraging conversation, curiosity, and pride in our borough’s cultural richness.

Community Event

Merton Eats Festival

At the end of the 12-month Merton Eats programme, we plan to host a large-scale Community Food & Culture Festival to bring together all the families, cooks, and community groups who took part in the series. This event will serve as both a celebration and a platform to showcase Merton’s incredible cultural diversity, creativity, and community spirit.
The festival will feature live cooking demonstrations, cultural food stalls, interactive workshops, and family-friendly activities such as storytelling, music, and art celebrating global food traditions. Participants from the Merton Eats series will be invited to present their dishes, share their stories on stage, and connect directly with neighbours who followed their journey online.
