A Natural Path to Early Learning

Exceptional Care, With A Forest School Approach

Welcome to Little Learners Childcare Services at Sherwood Park Hall, where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality early education and care for your child in the London Borough of Merton. We understand that choosing a childcare provider is one of the most important decisions you will make, which is why we offer an environment built on trust, outstanding care, and the flexibility that modern family life demands.

At Little Learners Childcare, we believe children thrive when they are given the space to explore, imagine, and connect with the natural world. That’s why we’ve adopted a Forest School approach to early years childcare.

Why it Benefits Children

Exciting news from Little Learners Childcare!
Starting in 2026, we’ll be offering the government awarded hours for FREE childcare to support those who need it, our Forest School approach sessions are beneficial as it supports:

  • Confidence & Independence: Children learn to solve problems and take safe risks.
  • Wellbeing: Time outdoors reduces stress and supports emotional regulation.
  • Holistic Development: Physical, social, and cognitive skills grow hand-in-hand.
  • Respect for Nature: Children develop an early sense of environmental responsibility.
  • Community & Connection: Working and playing together builds friendships and empathy.

Every  stick becomes a story, every leaf a lesson, and every day an adventure!

What Makes our Approach Different?

Unlike traditional childcare settings, our children spend extended time outdoors in all seasons, using nature as their classroom.

  • Learning is child-led, guided by curiosity
  • The environment encourages risk-taking, resilience, and independence.
  • Activities are practical, sensory, and hands-on, with nature at the centre.

Our method combines the EYFS framework and learning outcomes to ensure every child develops the essential skills for school readiness with the freedom and discovery of outdoor learning. This means children meet their development milestones while enjoying the excitement and wonder of nature.
